Local Development Plan

The statutory development plan for Aberdeenshire consists of the Aberdeenshire Local Plan 2012 and the Aberdeen City and Shire Strategic Development Plan.

The finalised 2014 Aberdeen City and Shire Strategic Development Plan may be viewed here.

The finalised 2012 Local Development Plan may be viewed here.

Local Development Plan

Aberdeenshire Council adopted the Aberdeenshire Local Development Plan on 1 June 2012.

The Plan sets out statements of the policies we will use for assessing planning applications and through the proposals confirms the principle of development on sites across Aberdeenshire.

As part of the reform of the planning system in Scotland supplementary guidance now has greater weight and forms part of the Development Plan. The associated supplementary guidance was also formally adopted on 1 June 2012. The supplementary guidance provides more detailed information on specific issues, proposals and sets out detailed policies. This allows the plan to focus on the distribution of development between settlements, the spatial strategy, and the main policies and proposals.

Next Local Development Plan

The Proposed Local Development Plan, published by Aberdeenshire Council, is a major step towards the production of the next plan. The response to the Main Issues Report from the Community Council may be viewed here.
